I have found a used Head from a 1989 Grand Am 2.5 on EBay, and with a FelPro gasket, should i be OK?

Michael S... I think a new Head is in order, for my Engine. I read your last Answer, and yes, this car and my Work are the only two things i do. I like to learn by eperimenting.. ive put my hand in a fire a few times. I thank you and can understand more what you were saying.



Now. About this head/gasket issue, i found one off a 1989 Grand Am 2.5 and i have a 1991 Calais 2.5 - same engine. I know a store that sells Fel-Pro gaskets. Michael S, one of the reasons i monkey with it (my Stat is dead, unrelated) is that my Mechanic can change the head in 4 to 6 hours for $250. So i learn all the %26quot;Shortcuts...%26quot;



.. Will i be OK with this head, and FelPro gaskets? And how can a Cylinder be %26quot;Re-Sleeved?%26quot;



I AM NOT GOING TO TRY TO CHANGE THE HEAD MYSELF!! Im asking so that i may Have Knowledge.

Ford Escorts...I have found a used Head from a 1989 Grand Am 2.5 on EBay, and with a FelPro gasket, should i be OK?in my opinion a fel-pro gasket 1 of the best but i would be a little scared to buy a head from e-bay or any place on line especially if i could,nt see it. as far as you know it could be warped, valves burnt, bad valve seals and guides and that,s not mentioning it might have a crack. no your best bet is get 1 from the junk yard and take it to a machine shop.I have found a used Head from a 1989 Grand Am 2.5 on EBay, and with a FelPro gasket, should i be OK?Sounds like you are good to go!I have found a used Head from a 1989 Grand Am 2.5 on EBay, and with a FelPro gasket, should i be OK?sorry to tell you this but personally I would not buy a cylinder head from e-bay,because there is no way that you can be sure that you are getting a good one.This is a major job and before you even attempt to install another head gasket you will need to have the cylinder head magna fluxed resurfaced and leak tested,they can even have a hairline crack in the valve seats and you will never be able to visually see it .that is where the magna flux comes in.so just take the head that you are pulling off to the machine shop yourself and you will save money in the long run and you will know what you have. ok
