how do i know if its head gaskets or the head , also heater is not working just change the thermastat and and put a new water pump on it and clean all the hoses1993 chevy 1500 pickup 4.3 how hard is it to change out head gaskets?Is it running hot ?

Do you have oil in your water ?

Is water leaking out on the ground ?

It's pretty hard to change gaskets unless you have a shop and all the tools.Most shops get your heads reworked anyway if you change gaskets..just to make sure.1993 chevy 1500 pickup 4.3 how hard is it to change out head gaskets?if you never done it then can be pretty hard. but why are you doing the head gaskets?
