PLEASE... before you preach to me about using additives please... just dont! If you really want to lecture to me about using these and think that I shouldn't then by all means....Feel free to send me a check for $1,000 to get a new gasket, or come and give me a ride to work. If not, then please just click away from this page.
(sorry to be rude, but i know they are not a good fix I just want to hear from anyone that has used them or knows someone that has)
So basically, I have a blown head gasket and my %26quot;buddy%26quot;/oil change and flush guy recommended that if there is ABSOLUTELY no way that i could pony up the cash for a new gasket but i had no other mode of transportation at all that i should look into using an additive.
So I asked him if he could do it, to make sure its done right since I'm not the most handy with things like that.
So, long story short he did it and then told me once I take it home let it sit overnight.
but im slightly confused because shouldn't he have to flush it out?
or does it stay in and do its job?
The kind he put in is %26quot;Blue Devil%26quot; sealant
this is a link to their website where it shows the directions on the back of the bottle:
https://www.gouniversalproducts.com/prod
and i notice on the directions on the website it says %26quot;after the test drive, let engine cool before installing new thermostat.....(like overnight?).. and refill with 50/50 coolant mixture.%26quot;
its kind of a unique situation because i just had my thermostat serviced (or at least i though i got it fixed) but the people put the wrong O ring on there so then my buddy guy didnt want to put it back on with the wrong O ring, so he left it out for me to bring down to the other guys.
so since the thermostat is still out should i get the O ring then take my car down to the guy and have him flush the sealant out and fill with 50/50???
Thank you!!!
so please.. if there is anyone that has used this product before or knows someone that did could you please let me know how you did it and if it worked. (i assume its only gonna hold for a month or so, but i figured it was better than my engine seizing up)Has anyone ever used Blue Devil Gasket Sealant?? or any other product like it?if your putting a head gasket on then no kind of sealant goes on that gasket. if you do that then it won,t seal. sealant is ok for the thermostat and water pump gasket but not on the head gasket. it has its own sealant on it when you buy it.
